ALBUM OUT 24th February 2023! Order direct and get access to limited edition music and merch ---> shop.penfriend.rocks

A song about defensiveness (particularly on the internet); our seemingly innate urge to throw up our spikes right away to defend ourselves by caricaturing the opposition, magnified by addictive media.

There are a few songs on this album about trying to understand people I’m very different to, and this happens to be the bounciest song of the collection.

lyrics

Erethizontidae
I’m a porcupine
Hystricidae, oh my!
You’re a porcupine
Oh oh porcupine

You’ve got to make your own way
This robot will not obey

Threaten to take your spikes
You’re a porcupine
If I step too close you’ll fight
You’re a porcupine
Oh oh porcupine

You’ve got to make your own way
This robot will not obey
They can’t compel me to stay
No, this robot will not obey

As the weeks fade
Take it easy
Don’t lose your nerve

You’ve got to make your own way
This robot will not obey
They can’t compel me to stay
This robot will not obey

Erethizontidae!
